kwashiorkor

A nutritional deficiency illness in children who are not getting enough protein, this results in anaemia, poor growth, weakness, and oedema (which isparticularly characterised by a pronounced pot belly). Infamine-stricken regions, children typically develop kwashiorkor rightafter they are weaned.
