Retzius' veins

Portacaval anastomoses formed from vein's in the walls of retroperitoneal viscera, such as the ascending and descending colon, passing to the tributaries of the inferior vena cava in the posterior body wall instead of those of the portal vein.

Synonym: Ruysch's veins.
