Wiskott-Aldrich syndrome

<haematology, syndrome> An sex-linked genetic disorder occurring in male children that is characterised by thrombocytopenia, eczema, melena and susceptibility to bacterial infections due to severe immunodeficiency (both cell-mediated and IgM production). Associated with increased incidence of leukaemia.

Inheritance: sex-linked (X chromosome).
