bronchopulmonary segment

The largest subdivision of a lobe of the lung; it is supplied by a direct tertiary (lobular) bronchus and a tertiary branch of the pulmonary artery; it is separated from adjacent segments by connective tissue septa.

Synonym: segmentum bronchopulmonale.
